Christmas Traditions: Books

Merry Christmas! As we count down the final hours to Christmas Day, I wanted to share one more fantastic Christmas tradition with you.

This one comes from the Preston family and I’ll let Stacy Preston’s own words explain how it works:

Our kids are still little so we are still developing our traditions and we are learning to adapt them to their ages. One of the things we have enjoyed doing each year is I wrap up 24 Christmas books that tell the story of Christ’s birth in some way. Each night  beginning December 1st, they get to pick out a book to read before bed time. It is really fun for them, you can adapt the books based on ages and it is a great opportunity to talk to them about Christ.

It was a joy spending the last few minutes of the day with the Preston family and watching their kids excitedly open up a book for the night. The night I joined them, the book was from the Veggie Tales series and told of the birth of Christ.

As a book worm, I love this idea of passing a love of books and keeping Christ the center of Christmas every night.

Do you have a great Christmas tradition that helps keep Christ the center of Christmas? I’d love to hear about it!
